Lyon Closing In On Shaqiri? Liverpool React On This Deal

Xherdan Shaqiri is linked to a move away from Liverpool while clubs are interested in signing him. Lyon made an offer to Liverpool for Xerdan Shaqiri while the club is not interested in their deal as they are persistent to sell him for £12Million.

Sevilla, Villarreal, Napoli and Lazio are all interested in the player and can make a better offer to sign him.

According to the club, the two parties are a long way apart. Liverpool did not confirm any deal to any clubs. Shaqiri was benched for the Athletic Bilbao friendly match.

It appears that Liverpool wants to sell him in this transfer window.

The Swiss international joined Liverpool in 2018 and has been their second choice of an attacking right-winger. Shaqiri impressed everyone with his performance in Euro 2020.

He scored thrice and got an assist for his Switzerland. The player is known for his delightful performances while playing for his country.

Shaqiri is a great technical player. The player possesses incredible vision. The only missing quality about the player is his slow pace in attack. Mohammed Salah also plays in the right-wing position and provides a constant threat to opposition teams because of his quick speed in attack.

Xherdan face competition from Salah, while he is often used as his replacement and the team can rely on him as a second choice in a strike.

Liverpool is prone to injuries from the past few seasons and selling a skilful player for cheap will cost them dearly. Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson got injured in the pre-season friendly match and is expected to miss a few weeks.

The team is in short of quality and experienced players. Xherdan is a former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan player and understands to take pressure easily.

The short height of Shaqiri helps him dribble past defenders in a one-on-one situation. The player has trained himself to use his short height as a benefit against tough defenders.

The transfer value of Shaqiri is reduced after his poor run in recent years. The club won’t benefit much by selling the 29-year-old right now.

Liverpool may receive offers from other teams to sign him. The club has the right to reject these offers as he has a years contract left with an option to add another year.
