Can the Netherlands win the World Cup 2022 Qatar?

Netherland is one of the better competitive teams in Europe that always pose a threat to other title challengers. The team always consists of exceptional talents that have the potential to win any match. However, the Dutch have been very unlucky in winning anything for more than 3 decades. In 2010 the team led by the likes of Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder reached the WC final but sadly lost it to Spain. In the previous edition of the World Cup hosted by Russia in 2018 the team failed to qualify and had to wait for the next opportunity.

The Netherlands National team looks well-oiled and in shape for the World Cup 2022 with new faces and more promising talents that have the same spark this team had in 2010. This competition has been unfair to Netherland as they have finished as the runner-ups thrice in their history. It will take a lot to overcome their past and achieve it in their presence.

The initial fight won’t be very difficult for Netherland as they face the WC hosts Qatar along with Ecuador and Senegal. These teams are not too strong and with the right strategy, they can win over all of them easily.

Overall it can be predicted that they will reach the quarter-finals of the WC and after that, it is on the team how to make it to the ultimate goal.

The Netherlands National Team: ‘The Dutch Men’

It is that area of the Netherland team that would require much attention. The main goalkeeper for them would be Jasper Cillessen (Valencia), he is someone who has a fair bit of experience against top clubs and someone who face Real Madrid and FC Barcelona very frequently.

The other notable options in goal would be Tim Krul (Norwich), Mark Flekken (Freiburg) and Kjell Scherpen (Brighton). All these are decent options but one cannot completely rely on them as they lack some qualities required to be an ideal goalkeeper.

One of the most interesting parts of the Dutch team is the defence. The duo of Matthijs De Ligt (Juventus) and Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool) is sufficient enough to stop great strikers. Another famous Dutch player Dailey Blind (Ajax) plays in full-back positions and can switch to a centre-back when required, Blind is someone who has tons of experience and his addition to this squad will be very beneficial for the team.

Apart from these 3 players, there are other exceptional talents available such as Stefan de Vrij (Inter), Nathan Ake (Manchester City), Denzel Dumfries (Inter) and Jurrien Timber (Ajax). All these players play for top teams from different parts of Europe and all of them will be of good use to the Dutch team.

The Netherland midfield consists of Dutch champions and famous players such as Frenkie De Jong (FC Barcelona), Davy Klaassen (Ajax) and Steven Berghuis (Ajax). There are also other players available to play in this area but these three would be the main midfielders for the Dutch team. There is also a lack of good midfielders for the Netherland so they have to utilize the options they have to get the best out of the available players.

The two main strikers for them are Memphis Depay (FC Barcelona) and Vincent Janssen (Royal Antwerp). Janssen used to play for Tottenham Hotspurs and has played for many clubs till now.

There are other good striking options for the Neds Wout Weghorst (Burnley), Steven Berghuis (Ajax), Steven Bergwijn (Tottenham), Noa Lang (Club Brugge) and Guus Til (Spartak Moscow).

The attacking lineup consists of decent players but they are not as sharp as Robben or Van Persie. The only possible way for Netherland to win the upcoming WC is if their midfield stays firm and provides aid to both the strikers and the defenders.

It is also a big problem that they don’t have a lot of midfielders who can dominate that area. If any of their main midfielders get injured it can result in a huge blow for the team. It is something Van Gaal will try to avoid.

After taking 2nd place thrice in the World Cup it might be their chance to win the title this year. All the Dutchmen and Dutch fans are hopeful for this team to do wonders in the World Cup 2022.
