FC Barcelona Latest Transfer News And Updates

Barcelona is a club surrounded more by bad rumours rather than any good signings in this transfer window. The club was successful in acquiring Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero on a free to add strength and quality to their attack.

A long list of players was expected to leave Barcelona but it looks like the club is taking a U-Turn and will try to retain their current players.

The news about Barcelona struggling financially is out and we all know that they have some big names in their squad that make up the wages of almost all of their team.

Lionel Messi was the highest earner of Barca until 2021, the player has decided to cut 50% of his salary to help with renewing his contract with the club in times of economic hardship. Other than Messi these players earn a fortune and make up most of their wage bill

1: Antoine Griezmann € 45,834,000
2: Frenkie de Jong € 20,834,000
3: Sergio Busquets € 14,949,000
4: Dembélé/Umtiti € 12,000,000
5: Coutinho/Ter Stegen/ Alba/ Pjanic € 8,580,000

Everyone expects Barcelona to sell Griezmann or make him lower his salary but the club has taken a U-turn in the issue and is making him a part of their future plan. The player has shaped his playing style as the style of Barcelona and is a great threat to their rivals, losing him in this situation might cost Barcelona dearly and they would want to avoid it.

Barcelona played Stuttgart in a friendly match and won 3-0, Griezmann got 2 assist for the team. The player is quickly linking up with Memphis Depay despite the fact he may be his replacement.

According to AS, the club will decide to let Griezmann and Coutinho stay and expect them to perform well in the new La Liga season. Looks like Coutinho will get his last chance at Barcelona to prove himself, if things don’t go well he may leave for Everton in this transfer window.

FC Barcelona boss admires Griezmann, he said “Memphis and Griezmann can play together, in different positions. We still have Aguero coming and we are waiting for Messi… I hope. ” Staying in the good books of your boss is the best thing for anyone.

The club has fulfilled its attacking responsibilities and now needs to work on its poor defence. A couple of promising signings on the defensive side is too important if they want to survive in La Liga or any competition. Gerard Pique has agreed to take a salary cut and is staying with them for more years.

Some rumours suggest that the club wants Umtiti to leave but the player is adamant and won’t leave or take a salary cut. They need to take big decisions to strengthen their team overall.

The club may sell other players but keep Griezmann and Coutinho for the upcoming season.
