Can Switzerland win the World Cup 2022?

Switzerland is a small country in Europe filled with mountains, lakes, rivers and the mighty alps. The country is known to have some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. The Swiss people are extremely organized and love to meet their friends during their pastime, but there is something else they love more than these two is to seeing their national team do good in the World Cup and other international competitions.

It is one of the biggest dreams for the Swiss people to see the Switzerland National team win the World Cup or the Euros. Unfortunately, they have not achieved it yet and it is still a dream for the fans but a dream which is warm and alive.

World Cup 2022 Qatar OddsSwitzerland +8000 (13th Position)
In the past few years, the Swiss team has given a lot of decent performances and proved to the world that they are also competitive. While it won’t be wrong to say but the Swiss team is not very strong if we compare them to the other mighty nations yet they humiliate them on a regular basis. It is a sign that they are no less than them and with a little right direction they can be among the best and lift the best title for their country.

The last time the country reached the quarter-finals was back in 1954 in their own country as the World Cup in 1954 was hosted by Switzerland. The team has not managed to even get to the quarter-finals since then and they constantly strive to work for getting past the early rounds.

Switzerland National Team Line-Up 2022:

Goalkeeper:

The Swiss team has a gem who is highly underrated when it comes to getting recognition and credit. People all around the world love Yann Sommer from (Borussia Monchengladbach) as he is one unique goalkeeper who possesses a certain style of goalkeeping that is different from other goalkeepers. The player has a ton load of experience and skill to easily stand against any player or team he faces.

The team may also pick Yvon Mvogo (PSV), Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund) and Jonas Omlin (Montpellier) who are also decent to play for the World Cup.

Defence:

One of the less effective areas of this team is the defence. It consists of decent players but you need more than decent if you want to win the World Cup. The manager Murat Yakin can call up Manuel Akanji (Borussia Dortmund), Nico Elvedi (Borussia Monchengladbach), Fabian Schar (Newcastle), Ricardo Rodriguez (Torino), Jordan Lotomba (Nice), Silvan Widmer (Mainz) and Kevin Mbabu (Wolfsburg) for the upcoming Wold Cup.

It is in the hands of the manager how he decides to pick his men in defence to make the most of the options available to him.

Midfield:

The Arsenal man Xhaka is the highlight in midfield as he is one of the best defensive midfielders out there. There are other players who have a good amount of experience in this area who can pair with Xhaka and bolster the midfield. The team can call up Djibril Sow (Eintracht Frankfurt), Renato Steffen (Wolfsburg), Fabian Frei (Basel), Steven Zuber (AEK Athens), Michel Aebischer (Bologna), and Djibril Sow (Eintracht Frankfurt).

The midfield consists of a good amount of talent which can be enough for the team if all of them understand their roles properly.

Attack:

The key area for Switzerland is where they cannot make mistakes if they are eyeing the ultimate title. The ex-Liverpool player who only scores astonishing goals for Switzerland can be of help to them for the upcoming WC. Xherdan Shaqiri now plays at (Chicago Fire) and is known to be one of the most talented players in the Swiss team for a long time. Although he is more of a midfielder the team highly relies on his attacking capabilities as well.

The other options avaialble in attack are Breel Embolo (Borussia Monchengladbach), Haris Seferovic (Benfica), Ruben Vargas (Augsburg), Noah Okafor (Red Bull Salzburg) and Mario Gavranovic (Kayserispor).

The struggle for supremacy is going to be difficult but this team does not look to go without giving a good fight. They finished ahead of mighty Italy in the group table and qualified for the World Cup while Italy did not. It’s not easy nor entirely impossible. No matter what happens one thing is sure the Swiss team will give a tough fight to every team they face.
