Pepe’s relationship with football is very obvious as his father is a famed Barcelona and Atletico Madrid star Miguel Reina. Pepe started his journey with Barcelona in the youth team and was also a part of La Liga in 2000-01. Barcelona was Pepe’s first club as he played with the club in his youth days and made a senior debut with the club in 2001. He made his appearance with the club in the La Liga 2000-2001 season.

In the 2001-2002 season, Reina made a total of 16 appearances and also played his debut match in the UEFA Champions League against Fenerbahce. Barcelona signed Rober Enke and Barcelona announced Pepe as a free agent. It was clear that he had to leave Barca.

2. Villarreal (2002-2005)

In July 2002. Reina joined the Valencian club Villarreal. He played for Villarreal for a total of 3 seasons. His journey in Villarreal can be considered a good and career-boosting journey as Villarreal reached the semi-finals in the third season and Reian helped El Submarino Amarillo to qualify and play first ever UEFA Champions League.

3. Liverpool (2005-2014)

Reina was signed by Liverpool in 2005 after his recent performance and appreciation in Villarreal. In 2009, he was again voted the player of the season, and in 2010 he announced his extension but the start of the 2010-11 season did not go too well as he failed in a couple of matches and even gave an own goal to Arsenal. However, Reina captained Liverpool in the Premier League and won 3-0 against Aston Villa.

His clean sheet in the match made him the first Liverpool player to reach the milestone of 100 clean sheets in 198 matches. He also broke the record of the most club clean sheets in a quarter-final win over Chelsea

4. Napoli (2014-2018)

Reina was loaned to Napoli in 2013. He played a total of 394 matches for Liverpool but he did not get the departure he deserved. During his time in Napoli, he stated that he might not make a comeback with Liverpool. But the matches he played with Napoli were a treat for the fans as he saved a penalty against Arsenal in the pre-season Emirates Cup, and also a great penalty save against Milan in September.

7. Aston Villa ( 2020- loan)

Reina joined Premier League side Aston Villa for the 2019-2020 season. He was loaned at a fee of 800k euros. Villa’s first-choice goalkeeper was injured so Reina joined the club for the summer season. Despite the fact that Aston Villa had suffered in the previous few matches and the record was not that good, Reina still wanted to join the club, play with them, and make an impression since he knew the Premier League so well
