Every football fan loves it when the main defender of their favourite club gets that rash tackle to stop their rival from scoring or maybe just for fun. We do know that football is a game that follows the principles of mutual love, respect and growth while playing but at times it becomes inevitable to play along with the rules. That’s when the bad boys of football come in to practice ‘dark arts’ on the field.
Our Strikers are remembered for the goals they score and the victory that follows. On the other hand, defenders are remembered by the tackles they make and the goals they stop. The bad part of getting your body on the ground is that if you don’t hit the ball and instead hit the player you will likely be sent off with a red card.
In the memory of our heroic defenders who laid down everything for their club, we present you the top 5 most red-carded players.
With Atlético’s Álvaro Morata clear on goal in the 115th minute of 2020’s Spanish Super Cup, Real Madrid's Fede Valverde chose violence. He brought down Morata with a foul so devilish it drew praise from Atléti manager Diego Simeone. Badge of dishonour. pic.twitter.com/hdeLOsnDdm

A long time ago Paolo used to dominate the defence of Juventus just how Bonucci does it now. The only difference was that Bonucci is a very aggressive player but Paolo was more aggressive than him. The player won the Italian title 4 times in his career while getting 21 red cards in his journey.
Alexis Delgado is not far ahead of Paolo with 22 red cards in his career. The player changed many clubs in his career and consistently achieved red cards for him to make it up here. He recently tied his boots while playing for Racing Santander. Clearly, a less famous bad boy as he was linked with rumours of match-fixing.

Talk about not being afraid of the referee and Cyril Rool will come to mind of old French League watchers. A guy who sometimes used to play as a midfielder and most times as a full back. He was always up for his team and would never think twice before going to the red no matter if that would lead him to get a red card.
Rool was fortunate enough to come in the third position as he had the potential to be at the top of this list because he won 187 yellow cards in his career too.
Cyril Rool is the correct answer here.

Which is fitting as no-one has more Ligue 1 red cards in history than him (27). https://t.co/9FqfRhTUSN pic.twitter.com/Eqea41BGQJ
The Greatest defender in the history of football is the ultimate captain one football fan can ask for. He gave everything for Real Madrid in every stage of his career. Ramos has achieved titles that other defenders can just dream of.
People will never forget the memory of Ramos making a tackle in El Clasico and especially against Leo Messi. All those moments are certainly some of the most precious moments in the history of La Liga. It won’t be too pleasant for Ramos as he got sent off but that memory will stay forever with all of us.
The player with the most red cards in this century is Ramos but unfortunately, he did not make it to the number 1 position. Ramos have a total of 26 red cards until now.
Clearly the best player on this list.
Real Madrid will reportedly appeal the Sergio Ramos El Clasico red card. 😅 pic.twitter.com/8DiRcb7vQp

Bedoya is the GOAT of getting red cards. The player was so ruthless that they even nicknamed him ‘The Beast’ as he played aggressive football almost all the time. He spent pretty much all of his career in Colombia which is why the majority of the people don’t know about this bad boy. Imagine getting 20 red cards more than Sergio Ramos, it is an achievement in itself. The strange fact about Bedoya getting 46 red cards is that he is more of a defensive midfielder than a central defender.
🛑 46 red cards as a player

🆘 Sent off in his first game as a coach
They don't make them like Gerardo Bedoya anymore 😂💥 pic.twitter.com/t9QeF0rxmF
As things stand the record is still his with no new player coming close it looks like our Colombian will have this title with him for a long time.
