Complete Story of Marcus Rashford

In this world, we have seen many people working hard to achieve something that is out of reach their reach at a point in time in their lives. A story about how a poverty-stricken boy from a badly off family reached the heights of success and did something that is still out of reach for many people with a lot of facilities and money. 

Marcus Rashford belonged to a family with a very weak financial background. He was born in Manchester and raised in Withington. Rashford comes from a family where he went through so much as his mother is a single parent and she often works multiple jobs to feed his siblings and him sometimes not even getting enough food to feed herself.

Rashford is a lifelong supporter of Manchester United and he had a dream of playing in that club. He is a product of the Manchester United youth academy and he joined the club when he was just 7 years old. Club Career:

Rashford began playing football as a goalkeeper when he was 5 years old and the early training sessions of his beginning took place at the Fletcher Moss Rangers. He was a fabulous player from the very start of his career as he was ahead of most of the players of his age in the learning phase and was also developing a unique game style. Even the Fletcher development officer considered him a player on the next level and this ability in Rashford got him scouted by various teams.

Rashford became a part of the U-15 Manchester United and his individual gameplay earned him a lot of respect from the manager and seniors as well. He was also named as the future of Manchester United and a next-generation star. Marcus was so good in his young days that he became the youngest-ever player to be selected for Manchester United’s Schoolboy Scholar Scheme and also started playing with the big names of the industry like Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard to nurture his skills and become better day by day. 

Talent with hard work is a common factor that is observed in a successful man. Rashford is a prime example of this, got selected for Manchester United’s 18-man squad for the UEFA Europa League. Rashford became Manchester’s Youngest scorer when he scored twice in the second half of a 5-1 win. His Premier League debut match against Arsenal was also memorable as the young forward netted the ball twice and provided a crucial assist against Arsenal. In 2017 February Rashford won 3rd trophy in the EFL Cup Final and he played an important role in Manchester United’s 2-0 win over leaders Chelsea in April.

The start of the 2017 season was on a high note for Rashford and due to this he came third in the 2017 Golden Boy Award. He had an astonishing start in the season as he contributed to 12 goals in just 16 games with five assists as well. It was noticed that his performance was far better than the other players and many people made big statements for him, saying that he has begun to play beyond his potential and has established himself as an outstanding forward player.

Ah On 13 January he became the youngest Manchester United player to score in three successive league games in his career. He also made his 150th appearance for the club and became the youngest Manchester United player to ever score in 4 successive League games. He was also announced as Manchester United player of the month for January 2019 and also one Manchester United goal of the month for his strike against Tottenham. 

When someone grows in a very short period and touch is a mark that is very difficult to touch, something happens that changes the momentum of life and teaches more about how unexpected someone’s life can be. The same happened with Rashford. In July 2019, he signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United and things were going pretty well for Rashford but something happened that stressed him a lot as he suffered a double stress fracture in the FA Cup match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After coming back from the injury, Rashford almost came back to the track and was playing well as he had his first Manchester United’s first hat-trick in a 5-0 win over RB Leipzig. He also became the youngest United player to score 50 Premier League goals after scoring his opening goal against Leicester City.

Due to his multiple injuries in his shoulder back and knee, Rashford never played any pain-free game in the last 2 years. As soon as the doctors considered him good to go for surgery and it went well. After his return in 2021, Rashford scored a goal in his first match and kept trying to attain his previous form. There were various renowned people in the industry who supported him in the tough times as it was hard to see a wonderful forward cope with all the difficulties after his surgery.

No matter how bad the injury is Rashford did not let the injury drag him down and instead he always came back stronger than ever.

International Career:

Rashford plays for the England national football team and was invited to play in the Victory Shield U-16. As he made his debut for the senior team of Man United he was called up for the under-20 national team where he provided an assist and won his first match by 2-1. Rashford’s game was developing at a good rate and he surprised the nation and gained a lot of respect in the football industry when he scored a hat trick against Norway winning the match by 6-1 for the under-21 England team. 

In 2017 Rashford was playing exceptionally well and it was expected that he would be going for the 2017 UEFA European U21 Championship but Jose Mourinho the manager considered him a player much ahead then the under-21 level as he was already playing at senior football. Later on, he announced that he had no right to stop Rashford from going to play the tournament but he decided not to go in the tournament as it was Rashford’s own decision. 

However, Rashford’s performance and consistency in proving himself as a deserving player on every stage earned him valuable spots to make his career a successful one. He was included in the UEFA Euro 2016 and was included in the Euro squad in just 4 months making his Manchester United. In 2016 after making his debut for the England national team he became the youngest Englishman to score.

Rashford started the UEFA Nations League on a high note scoring in multiple matches and providing crucial assists. Despite his consistent performance in the ongoing international matches he was named in the Euro 2020 but was brought as a substitute in the tournament.

Rashford missed the next World Cup qualifiers matches due to an injury in the shoulder and also underwent surgery due to the same season. However, he returned in the November qualifiers but was forced to take rest due to illness. This phase of Rashford’s career can be considered a downfall in the life of an outstanding striker as he sat on the bench for various matches and tournaments.

During the 2022 World Cup, he set a record as he became the third-quickest substitute to hit a goal in the World Cup. A prime example of a popular idiom is “Lion may be old, but never forgets to Roar”

He was praised by the legends of England as he surprised everyone with his astonishing performance after struggling for 18 months.

We can see after his injury in 2021 there was a long break of 18 months where his performance was downgraded from the bar that he had already set in his career. But he came back with a stronger version of himself and showed his capability and his original zone of gameplay again in the 2022 FIFA World Cup becoming one of the highest goal scorers and getting praise from the legends of England Football history. No doubt his contribution will always be remembered and Rashford is expected to do wonders in the remaining period of his career as well. 

Marcus Rashford is the gem that was given to Manchester United but they fail to utilize his talents. He has the mentality and skill to help this team reach great heights but it looks like there is little help from others that make his efforts go to vain. No matter if he does not end up with a lot of titles at the end of his career he will always be regarded as one of the best strikers of this generation and one who has a heart of gold.
