Cristiano Ronaldo's astonishing love for Lionel Messi

When it comes to football, there are few names as famous as these two. Cristiano and Messi have stayed on top for so long that their fans have started to think that no one will ever reach them. These are the players that have a fanbase bigger than their club and a bigger fanbase comes with big problems too. Wherever you go you will see fans of these two individuals fighting anywhere they can. They have made names for the (so-called) enemies of their idol and the disrespect is real with them.

We all know that Lionel Messi is very shy, caring, sweet and down to earth but when it comes to Cristiano some people think that he’s arrogant, selfish and a narcissist. I can assure you that there are no traits in him that make him deserve those false qualities. People don’t know that Cristiano and Messi share a great bond between them and their fans are fighting over a lost cause.

Does Cristiano Ronaldo love Leo Messi?

I can’t say if he loves him but after reading the article you may decide for yourself.

When Cristiano used to play for Real Madrid it was clear for most of us that these two are rivals and there’s a race between them. Well you are wrong, in an award ceremony Cristiano was sitting next to Messi and he said this to the interviewer.

“I’ve always had a cordial relationship with Messi, I never saw him as a rival. It’s the press that creates the rivalry. If you ask Leo, he’ll tell you the same thing. It’s always beautiful to play against him. It’s a great privilege.”

Cristiano is a big narcissist and thinks he’s the greatest player of all time? I think not. Whenever asked about Leo he always praises him. Once he said to the press “How many players are capable of playing at the highest level for more than 10 years? You count them on one hand. There are two, Messi and I.”

In a different interview, the Portuguese said “My son watches videos of Lionel Messi. I don’t mind it. I admire it because he is watching videos of an exceptional player.”

It’s basic human psychology to think that a person is good for us if he feels sad about our losses and shows support when they really need it. The Argentine was once unlucky from the penalty spot and his nation lost. After the match, Cris came out in support of Leo.

“It hurts me to see Messi in tears and I hope he returns to his national team because they need him.” “[Messi] is not used to defeats and disappointments, not even to finishing second. To miss a penalty does not make you a bad person.”

Well okay, he may not be that bad. But still, he can’t be as good as Leo. I mean all these are publicity stunts right? How do we know if he really admires him?  If you still think that Cristiano is evil then this should change your mind. On different occasions the player mentioned Messi.

“I really admire the career he has had and from his side, he has already talked of the disappointment when I left Spain because it was a rivalry that he appreciated.”

“I have no doubt that Lionel Messi has made me a better player and vice-versa.”

“We shared the stage 15 years, me and him. “I don’t know if it’s ever happened in football, the same two guys, in the same stage, all the time. So, it’s not easy. Of course, we have a good relationship. We did not have dinner together yet, but I hope in the future.”

“It’s great to be a part of the history of football. I am there, and of course, he is as well.”

One has to be too blind to still see him as an egoistic person. Cristiano and Messi are two hungry players, when they achieve one title they run again for the next one. The main difference is that Cristiano shows his hunger on his face while Messi is calm and prefers to keep him to himself. If someone asks Messi if he is the best player of all time he usually takes names of other players but with Cristiano it’s different. When you are the best there’s nothing wrong to say it out loud. The hunger, aggression and winning mentality of Cristiano are the qualities that made him come this far. Some hate him because they can’t be him, others hate him because they think wrong of him.

It’s sick to still compare these players in 2021. We’re running out of time, in some years they will hang their boots and we won’t see them on the pitch. If you still want to fight over who’s better then here’s another quote from Cristiano Ronaldo to help you out.

“Sometimes (the comparisons with Messi) makes me tired … for him too because they compare us together all the time. You can’t compare a Ferrari and a Porsche, because they have different engines.”

Love both of them and hate none. If you love one don’t hate on the other. Cristiano has achieved more in his life than many of us ever will
