All clubs Pepe played in:

Pepe is one tough defender who will be remembered for many reasons once he retires. He has led one of the most successful and iconic careers as a player and continues to do so at the age of 40 for FC Porto and Portugal. He is an inspiration for the new generation who are planning to make it big as a defender. Over the course of his career, he enjoyed a formidable partnership with Sergio Ramos. The duo is still remembered for their behaviour on the pitch, some relish those memories while others hate them.

We all know that he is known as Pepe, but very few people know his real name, Kepler Laveran de Lima Ferreira. It is much longer than Pepe so I believe everyone would like to stick with the well-known one. In his career, the player won any titles and made endless memories for the fans.

Pepe Club Timeline:

(2001 – 2004) – Maritimo

(2004 – 2007) – Porto

(2007 – 2017) – Real Madrid

(2017 – 2019) – Besiktas

(2019 – Present) – Porto

All the clubs that Pepe played for:

1: Maritimo (2001-2004)

It all started at Maritimo for Pepe as he joined them as a youth player. Pepe was a tough player since the start, he rarely missed any matches during his youth days and display great performance for the team. He debuted in the senior team in 2001 for Maritimo and made his way to the starting 11 for the team. He was an uprising talent in the Portuguese league and had many scouts looking out for him to sign for clubs such as Sporting CP and FC Porto.

2: Porto ( 2004 – 2007)

The Portuguese giants FC Porto managed to get the signature of Pepe. It was a big break for the player as now he was playing with other highly promising talents of the world. In his first season, the youngster took his time to get comfortable in this new system. The following seasons were very special for him and Porto as they won back-to-back league titles. He was having the time of his life with so many victories and the attention gained. The fame was his big ticket to other European giants who were also looking out for talents like him.

3:  Real Madrid (2007 – 2017)

The most momentous moment in the career of Pepe was to sign for Real Madrid in 2007. The Spanish giants signed him for over €30 million which was a record fee for a defender at that time. Just this signing was a statement to the world that Pepe is not an ordinary defender and he is here for more.

Pepe was a fierce and indestructible force in the defence of Real Madrid. He was a bit too harsh on his opponents which gained him the reputation of being the biggest badass defender in La Liga and the world. He has blessed Real Madrid fans with some of the best memories that will last a long time with them. He won many titles during his time at Real Madrid including 3 massive Champions League titles and 3 La Liga titles.

The Portuguese national stayed with Real Madrid for a decade and made his status among the legendary players of the club. In 2017 he surprisingly made a move to Besiktas and left the club.

4: Besiktas (2017 – 2019)

The la Liga champion decided to sign for Besiktas on a free transfer. It was a big move as Pepe was a well-experienced player and the team looked upon him on many occasions. However, the move of Besiktas was not very fruitful and he did not win anything with them. The player stayed for 2 seasons with them where he tried his best to help the club.

5: Porto (2019 – Present)

It was time for the hero of Porto to return and reclaim his spot. In 2019 he moved back to Porto where it all started for him. Since then he has been performing much better than many younger defenders out there even at the age of 40. Porto is the home for Pepe and he is very ambitious for this club. It reflects in each match he plays for them, it does not matter if it is an important fixture or not. In his second spell, he won 7 titles in 5 years including two Primeira Liga for the team.

The player continues to still defend FC Porto in 2023 towards more glory and victories.
