The captain of the Polish National Team, widely regarded as one of the finest centre-forwards of modern football, Robert Lewandowski is a Polish professional football player and currently plays as a striker for FC Barcelona.

He started his journey in the world of football as an unregistered player in a local club and soon transcended to great heights. In 1997 he joined MKS Varsovia Warsaw officially and played for seven long years in the same place. In 2006-2007 he was the top scorer in the Polish third division. This contributed to Znicz Pruszków’s winning promotion. Let’s walk through a list of all the clubs Lewandowski was associated with in his career. He holds the position of the third-highest goalscorer in the history of the UEFA Champions League.

1: Lech Poznań

Lewandowski has been a great goalscorer all his life and scoring goals is something that comes very naturally to him. After being a top scorer in the third and second division of Polish Football he moved to Lech Poznan. He debuted on July 17 as a substitute and scored the only goal of the evening in the 75th minute. Robert helped his team to win the 2009-2010 Polish Football Championship. He was the performer with 18 goals that season. It was the stepping stone in the legendary career he was going to have, the kind of talent he had was astonishing.

2: Borussia Dortmund

Before coming to Borussia, Robert had plans to join two other clubs but it didn’t work out. Amidst speculations, he joined Borussia Dortmund in June 2010 for a four-year contract. He finished the 2010–11 season as the third-highest goal scorer with 22 goals and six assists. In 2011 he was also named as the player of the year in Poland.

He had a fantastic season in Dortmund, from extending  Dortmund’s unbeaten record, he set a new club record for the longest scoring streak, scoring in 12 consecutive league games, and also finished the season with 24 league goals. At the time when he used to play for Dortmund, the world discovered the best Dortmund side that used to threaten every other European giants. The team had some of the best talents but eventually, it lost most of them to their rivals or other clubs.

Lewandowski scored his 100th goal for Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal semi-finals and played the last match for Dortmund in the finals of the league.

3: Bayern Munich

Robert’s career has been full of incredible achievements and his time in Munich took it to great heights. He stayed with the club till 2021. He signed a five-year contract with Bayern Munich at the start of the 2014-2015 season and later extended it. Robert made his debut in the 2014 DFL Supercup and scored his first goal for the club in another match against Schalke.

On September 22, 2015, Lewandowski made history in the Bundesliga. He came in as a substitute for Bayern when they were losing 0–1 to Wolfsburg. In just 8 minutes and 59 seconds, he scored five goals, setting the record for the fastest five goals in Bundesliga history. He also achieved the fastest hat-trick, scoring three goals in four minutes, and set the record for the most goals scored by a substitute.

During his time in Munich, he secured the Bundesliga title in each of his eight seasons. He played a big role in Bayern’s 2019-20 UEFA Champions League victory, solidifying his status in the team. He was awarded the Best FIFA Men’s Player 2020. During his time in Munich, he won two European Golden Shoe awards consecutively. Robert expressed his desire to leave the club in May 2022 on good terms after establishing himself as the best player in the club.

It was a big decision by the player to leave the club where he was the champion and was surely untouchable. Lewandowski realized that it was time to make a name for himself somewhere else and so he made a big move.

4: FC Barcelona

In 2022, FC Barcelona signed Lewandowski, who went on to win the Supercopa de España, the La Liga title, and the Pichichi Trophy for emerging as the top goalscorer in the league, all within his debut year in the club.

While signing with Barcelona Lewandowski also became the most expensive Polish player ever bought. In his first match as Barcelona player, he scored a hat-trick, becoming the first player to score Champions League hat-tricks for three different clubs. In a match in November, he received his second foul of the career resulting in a three-game ban eventually missing the league matches. He became the best scorer for the first 50 matches for the club in the 21st century. He became the third player to reach a total of 100 goals in the UEFA competition in September 2023 in a win against Antwerp.

The player is showing minor signs of slowing down but this does not mean that he has lost his great form. Lewandowski continues to score beautiful goals in Camo Nou where he is competing with some of the world’s best teams in Spain and the World.
