Personal stats:

The players who play at the full-back positions are rather more creative than an average defender. A fullback have a lot to do for their team in a match. They repel the opponent’s attack and also create opportunities for left and right wingers in attack. Jordi Alba and Marcelo are both left backs who knows what they need to do at the exact time. Both have achieved a lot in their football careers and they are still achieving with the same clubs.

Now we are going to compare their stats for the current season and their personal best season.

It should be noted that due to some inconvenience he started for just 3 matches while Alba started for 21 matches.

Jordi Alba enjoyed his prime time when he played for Barcelona in the 2015/16 season. He had his best season with 6 assists, 87% completed passes, 72% successful tackles, 2088 passes and making just 20 fouls.

Marcelo was in his prime time when he played for Real Madrid in the 2014/15 season. He scored 2 goals, 7 assists, 84% completed passes, 60% successful tackles, 1930 passes and made 21 fouls.

When they are on the pitch, they give their maximum and they are both important to their teams because of the value they bring to the team. It looks like Alba is a little ahead of Marcelo in this category but we all know how good Marcelo is with the ball on his feet.

Titles:

Trophies are something through which you can easily compare two players. When a player wins many league trophies from being associated with a team, his value increases. Jordi Alba won a total of 15 titles for his team, including 1 FIFA Club World Cup, 1 Champions League, 5 Spanish Championship, 5 Spanish Cup, 3 Spanish Super Cup.

On the other hand, Marcelo is miles ahead with a total of 23 titles for his team, including 4 FIFA Club World Cup, 4 Champions League, 5 Spanish Championship, 2 Spanish Cup, 5 Spanish Super Cup, 3 UEFA Super Cup.

We have a clear winner here.

International career and achievements:

Both of the left-backs played a sensitive role for their nations. Marcelo made his international debut with Brazil against Wales in a 2-0 victory. Former Brazilian superhero Roberto Carlos and Marcelo played together during the second half of the 2006–07 season. On 11th October 2011, he was awarded as the Man of the Match for a friendly 2–1 win against Mexico for dribbling at several players and scoring a tremendous goal.

In the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup final Marcelo and Alba faced each other where Brazil got a 3–0 victory over Spain. Marcelo played in Brazil’s starting lineup for all five matches. Marcelo scored a total of 6 and Jordi Alba scored a total of 8 international goals in their careers. Jordi Alba played four complete matches during the tournament, including the final. Due to the absence of Sergio Busquets, he is now the current captain of Spain.

Alba made his debut on 11th October, with a 3–1 win in Alicante. In the European finals 2012, he scored the second goal in a 4–0 win against Italy. Apart from that, he also played in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Clubs :

Marcelo:
Coming from a very poor background, he was about to give up football. But at his grandmother’s urging, he began to think about his football career. Marcelo came from Fluminense’s youth academy and joined Real Madrid in 2007. He has scored a total of 38 goals in 542 appearances(s) for Real Madrid so far.

Alba:
Jordi Alba came from Valencia’s youth team and joined Barcelona in 2012. He has scored a total of 24 goals in 417 appearances(s) for Barcelona. We’ve already talked about their achievements for their club in the “Titles” section.

After Lionel Messi left Barcelona, Jordi Alba became the fourth captain of  Barcelona.

Who is the Better Player?

Real Madrid and Barcelona are the biggest clubs in the history of football. One of the best derbies in football history is El Clásico. Both of them have honoured the clubs with everything they got. In all this time they both have managed to lift some of the biggest trophies for their clubs. The last few years have been magical for both of them but with every day passing by it looks like they are losing their charm. There will come a time when they will hang their boots and we will no longer be able to see them play against each other.

The ultimate conclusion is that you can’t tell which of them is the best. Both are good in their own way. They are both fast players, strong competitors and incomparable to each other. Despite all this if we still compare them statistically Marcelo is ahead of Jordi Alba.
